The Securus Data property Fund – part of Keppel Data Center Investment Management which owns data centers in Singapore, Brisbane and Sydney – has purchased a new facility in London’s Canary Wharf.

The purchase provides Securus with its third data center – GV7 –  and its first property in London.

It purchased the facility in one of the UK’s key data center locations from UK data center developer Eurohub. Securus Principal director of AEPim and co-fund manager Jonathan King said location played a large part in the purchase.

“GV7 is strategically located in the heart of London’s Docklands financial district and its acquisition will add another high quality, carrier-neutral data center facility to the fund’s portfolio,” King said.

The data center is already 100% occupied with a high quality tenant and Securus said it will be working with Eurohub to further develop four more phases of the London Docklands campus.

On its website, Eurohub said its data centers offer dual A&B power feeds to each rack, N=1 rotary diesel power, hot and cold-aisle containment and power densities between 3kW and 8kW.

King has not ruled out more activity in the UK in future.

"The fund will continue to explore new opportunities to expand our platform in the UK and Europe," King said.

Securus Fund is jointly managed by Keppel Data Centre Investment Management, part of logistics and data centers group Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation and AEP Investment Management.

It started raising money in 2010 for data center investments and began its foray in the space in 2011 with the purchase of a 70% of iSeek’s iDC N+1 400 rack data center near the Brisbane Airport in Queensland and another Tier III data center in North Sydney’s Gore Hill technology precinct.

Keppel Data Center Holdings also owns the Keppel Digihub, a Tier III data center with 194,800 sq ft of data center space used for colocation in Serangoon North, Singapore, and operates a data center in Dublin through Citadel 100 Datacenters Ltd.
